Joyful Art Club

Joyful Art Club: Come and Paint With Us in Stony Stratford!

If you’ve ever said “I can’t draw” or “I’m not creative”, this one’s for you.

Joyful Art Club is a monthly creative gathering at York House Centre in Stony Stratford, and it’s exactly what it sounds like: a room full of lovely people, a splash of colour, and absolutely zero pressure to be perfect.

What actually happens at Joyful Art Club?
You turn up. I'll make you a cuppa and you pick up a brush. And then, my favourite bit, you stop thinking and start painting.

Art club is your space - bring that unfinished drawing or painting or art project and your own materials and enjoy two hours to immerse yourself in your creativity.

Each session I’ll also provide a laid-back mini art project so if you don’t have anything to bring don’t worry! Just bring you and a curious heart.

I’ll share some of my intuitive painting techniques that are accessible to everyone, whether you last held a paintbrush at school or you 'can't draw'.

We paint to music, we chat, we laugh, and we leave with something we made with our own hands. It’s part creative workshop, part mindfulness session, part social and completely joyful. Oh and there is cake of course!

Why “don’t think, just paint”?
My whole creative philosophy is built around letting go of the inner critic. Most of us spend our days in our heads, planning, problem-solving, second-guessing. Basically adulting! Art gives you permission to switch all of that off and bring out your inner child.

Research shows that creative activity reduces cortisol levels, supports emotional wellbeing, and activates the brain’s reward system. Regardless of what science says - you just need to feel it and you'll know. Just come along and see what happens when you stop trying to make something “good” and just let yourself play.

Who comes to Joyful Art Club?
Everyone and you. From complete beginners to people returning to art after years away, or more experienced artists who just need a little space.

There’s no skill level required, only curiosity and a willingness to make a bit of a mess. It’s a brilliant thing to do on your own (a proper treat for yourself), or bring a friend and make an evening of it - paint and then go paint the town red! (Stony Stratford high street pubs are in walking distance!).

Come and make something joyful.

Art isn’t about talent. It’s about expression, connection, and giving yourself permission to create. That’s what Joyful Art Club is all about, and I’d love to see you there.

Next session: 30 April 7pm to 9pm at York House Centre, Stony Stratford
